106 & Park is Falling Apart.

Recently, hosts Terrence J and Rocsi voluntarily resigned from the show “106 & Park”. They’ve been replaced by four new people and apparently that has caused a decrease in the show’s ratings.

It all started in the year 2000. BET added the music countdown show "106 & Park" to its network. Instantly, people gravitated towards it; simply because there was nothing else like it. The show had two young and personable hosts: AJ and Free. They introduced the newest and hottest hip-hop and r&b music, constructed interviews with some of the biggest stars and had interactive games for their audience to participate in every weekday. On top of that, there were segments like "Wild Out Wednesday" and "Freestyle Friday". Unfortunately, in 2006 AJ and Free departed the show because they wanted to explore different career paths, so the network got new hosts: Terrence J and Rocsi. Viewers were iffy about whether or not these two would be as good as AJ and Free but luckily, it didn't take long for everyone to warm up to their awesome personalities.

But once again, the show’s hosts eventually left to explore different career paths. Now there are four new hosts and viewers are having difficulty adjusting to the newbies this time. Nothing about 106 feels the same. The games they construct are getting cheesier, the amount of celebrities who stop by is decreasing, and the hosts themselves simply are not as good AJ and Free or Terrance and Rocsi.

One of the main problems is that there are more than two hosts. Having one young male and one young female who are not already publicly known, worked so well for the show. However, this time there are two females and two males, one of them already being a run-down celebrity. Having four people on screen just makes the dynamic completely strange and un-relaxed.

I say, the BET network could have chosen more wisely. It's been nearly four months and the hosts still aren't making a good impression. The network should definitely replace all of them and come up with better material because quite frankly, it sucks. Hardly anyone tunes in anymore and the numbers don't lie. If the BET network doesn't do something about it soon, this will probably be the end 106 & Park.
