Fashion Trends of 2012

I am not the biggest person when it comes to fashion trends, but there are things that I have noticed that are both good and bad. One thing I have noticed is the amount of people wearing yoga pants. I have seen both males and females wear these. For awhile seeing people wear them did not bother be and it was uncommon, but now it seems like females and few males only wear these. I have noticed this especially on the Framingham State University campus. Yoga pants are designed for yoga and other exercises. Although they can be worn for everyday use I do not find it appropriate in some cases. My boss wears yoga pants and I would never say anything to her, but I do not find it appropriate. Yoga pants are skin tight and allows people to get a better view of some body parts that are not neccesary to see. Not only is it annoying and sometimes innappropriate to see, but it is also lazy clothing. It does not take effort to mix up and match clothes with yoga pants. I do not think women should not wear yoga pants, but they should not be worn as frequently or in the workplace.

Now something that had died off years ago has made a return. Snapback hats are being made and sold again in retail stores. These were popular in the 90's. Snapback hats are flat brim hats that have adjustments on the back of the hat. This means any size fits all, so people do not have to get tight hats or loose hats to wear. I personally like them a lot and I know others that do as well. They look good on both genders and the designs on the hats look better than regular flat brim hats. Like yoga pants they should not be worn in the workplace (unless it is okay with your manager or supervisor), but they take more effort to match with other clothes unlike yoga pants.

  1. I can see your point in the inappropriateness of yoga pants in certain places. Wearing yoga pants in the workplace is definitely inappropriate and unprofessional. Depending on the job, appearance is important for making a good impression.

However, I think I speak for many females that not all yoga pants are inappropriate. Not all types of yoga pants are skin tight, there are some that are looser. They can be similar to sweatpants but made out of a more breathable material- do you feel the same way about sweatpants?

As for yoga pants being a "lazy" clothing - yes, I agree with you. But, who isn't being lazy at this time of the semester? I wore yoga pants today, because they are comfortable and because after getting 5 hours of sleep at night it really isn't important to me to find a presentable outfit.
